Standards and Interoperability panel at GWF 2013

In the Internet Age, information technology standards are the "Great Value Multiplier." The value of a new standard scales rapidly as vendors' implementations bring improved profits, reduced costs and new decision-making capabilities to the many individual businesses and organizations who use the vendors' products and web services. Most geospatial standards serve many application domains. This panel brings together leaders in insurance, transportation, business location, aviation and water resources who will talk about the connection between geospatial standards and the future success of stakeholders in their industries. The panel will show that the value of standards extends beyond cost savings and profits to protecting lives and property and improving the overall well-being of the population.

  •  Sharon Palmer, Divisional Director, GIS, Global Analytics, Willis Insurance.  Ms. Palmer will talk about the use and benefits of geospatial technologies and information in  managing risk within the insurance environment.
