Our aim is to ensure that private and public institutions gain the greatest possible understanding of risks while insurers and reinsurers can deliver effective financial protection at optimum terms.
Around 50 science institutions across the world are members of the WRN. They span the range of disciplines and geographies that concern our insurance and reinsurance clients and the industry's evolving regulatory landscape. These are reflected in the WRN's five research pillars: Regulation & Public Policy, Economic Capital, Natural Hazard and Risks, Man-made Risk & Liabilities, and Core Technologies.
We support long term partnerships within the WRN, often via the funding of new research positions, to enable the development of sufficient understanding of the research and operational requirements with and for Willis and our market partners.
WRN supported research produces many peer reviewed journal papers per year. But the core operational focus is the data, models, applications, and methods that can be combined with refined analytical interpretation and integrated into risk and (re)insurance decision making.
With its success the WRN has grown to become the world's largest collaboration between public science and the finance sector. We are recognised as exemplary by leading science organisations with whom we work.
Willis operates globally with around 20,000 associates located across 100 countries. It manages and transacts a vast range of risks and extremes from natural hazards and man-made perils to financial risk and legal liabilities. Over the last twenty years analytics has become fundamental to these processes and decision making.
