Cat 3 Hurricane in the Northeast: Willis/Princeton Insurers’ Summit
News:
The Willis Research Network and Princeton University invite you to the greatest ever gathering of scientific expertise for insurers with windstorm and flood risk in the Northeast U.S.
Developed for insurance executives, the summit will use the latest science to inform you of the likelihood of a major hurricane hitting the Northeast and of the impact such an extreme hurricane would have; will reveal how hurricanes in this region are represented in current catastrophe models; and will highlight the implications this latest view of risk have for underwriting, diversification and capital strategy, ratings and
regulation for insurers.

Willis is bringing together international leaders in their academic fields, including:
  • Dr. Greg Holland, Hurricane Climate, National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR),
  • Prof. Kerry Emanuel, Tropical Meteorology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT),
  • Prof. James Smith, Urban Flood, Princeton,
  • Dr. Brian Colle, Coastal Storm Surge, SUNY Stony Brook, and
  • Dr. Keith Porter, Vulnerability, Loss Estimation, and Demand Surge, University of Colorado.

These distinguished speakers will describe the state of the latest science on Northeast wind, storm surge, urban flood and demand surge risk, framed for executive management, modeling professionals, and catastrophe and reinsurance managers. Cat modeling firms AIR, EQECAT and RMS will each also describe steps they are taking to incorporate the latest science into their models, which are widely used
by the re/insurance industry to manage the risk from these hazards.

Willis experts will explain the implications and options for reinsurance, regulatory capital, ratings and
underwriting strategy.

The climate is changing and so are catastrophe risk markets.

Please RSVP to your Willis contact or to nick.thorpe@willis.com.
